GFA President Kurt Okraku begins 4-day Northern Ghana Tour to boost football development
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has commenced a four-day working tour of Northern Ghana, starting in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa.
Upon arrival at Wa Airport on Monday morning, he was warmly received by Upper West Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Daudi Sadugu Yahaya, and his executive team.
The tour will cover three football regions in the north, aiming to strengthen stakeholder engagement and accelerate football development.
In Wa, President Simeon-Okraku will hold strategic meetings with the Upper West RFA leadership, club owners, and administrators across various divisions. These discussions are expected to assess challenges, share ideas, and explore sustainable pathways for football growth in the region.
As part of the itinerary, he will pay a courtesy call on Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, ESQ, to discuss potential collaborations between government and football authorities. The visit also includes inspections of ongoing GFA infrastructure projects, including Malik Jabir Stadium and the newly constructed B.K. Adama Park, to evaluate progress and ensure alignment with the GFA’s long-term development vision.
Recognising the role of traditional leadership, the GFA president will conclude the Wa engagements with a courtesy visit to the Wa-Naa, Alhaji Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo VI, reaffirming respect for customary institutions and their contribution to youth and community development.
The tour will continue with stops in Tumu and Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region for similar stakeholder consultations, before concluding in Tamale, where engagements with the Northern RFA and key football stakeholders will reinforce the GFA’s commitment to inclusive governance, grassroots development, and holistic advancement of football across Ghana.
