GFA drops 2026/27 GPL dates: Season kicks off Sept 4
The Ghana Football Association has officially announced dates for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Football returns the weekend of September 4-7, 2026, and the battle for the title will run all the way to May 28-31, 2027.
According to the GFA, the new calendar is in line with the FIFA calendar; better planning, tighter scheduling, and a league that finishes on time.
That means most games will stay on weekends with midweek slots only for postponed matches.
Clubs now have a clear runway.
After the GFA Congress on August 20, 2026, teams can wrap up pre-season and go straight into action.
It’s set to be a big one.
Defending champions Medeama SC will be looking to hold onto their crown against the rest of the league’s heavyweights.
And we’ve got fresh faces too. Debibi United, FC AshantiGold 04 and Port City FC all earned promotion from Division One and will be fighting to make their mark in the top flight.
The GFA says it’s fully committed to making this season the most organized and competitive for the clubs, players, fans and partners across the country.
