Ignatius Baffour-Awuah: Former Labour Minister granted GHS500k bail over Pooley's death
Former Employment & Labour Relations Minister Ignatius Baffour-Awuah who was arrested over the death of a Kotoko devotee during a recent Ghana Premier League (GPL) match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre, Bono Region, has been granted bail by the Sunyani District Court B.
The court presided over by Eric Daning granted Baffour-Awuah and one Joseph Kyeremeh a GHS500,000 bail with three sureties each.
Agyemang Duah Owusu, a police officer and one of the accused persons, was not so lucky as he was remanded into police custody.
Baffour-Awuah, the owner and financier of Nsoatreman FC, and Kyeremeh were charged with “abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder”.
Duah, the police inspector, was charged with murder.
The court ordered the accused persons to report themselves to the police tor every day till Monday, February 17, 2025, when they reappear in court; turn in their passports to the court registry; and to seek leave of the court before travelling outside the Sunyani Municipality.
The violent disturbances during the said match on Sunday, February 2, resulted in the death of a popular Kotoko fan called Francis Yaw ‘Pooley’ Frimpong.
