Kudus to sit out 2 more games per FA penalty for violent conduct
Winger Mohammed Kudus will sit out two more games after he was shown a red card recently.
The West Ham star's red card came when his side played against Tottenham last month - the former suffered a 4:1 beating at the hands of the latter.
Kudus confronted Micky van de Ven in the 82nd minute of the game, a melee ensued, and the Tottenham defender bemoaned Kudus had punched him in the face.
Pape Matar Sarr suffered a similar assault.
Initially Kudus, a Ghanaian international, saw a yellow card by referee Andy Madley. After VAR was consulted, however, it was upgraded to a red for violent conduct, earning West Ham's only scorer for the game an automatic three-match ban.
Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the English Football Association also ruled Kudus will sit out two additional games for violent misconduct.
Already, Kudus was off the pitch during West Ham's game against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. When he spectates as his teammates take on Everton this weekend, he would have satisfied the penalty of the red card.
The FA's suspension bars him from partaking in the West Ham v Newcastle game on Monday, November 25, 2024, and a home game against Arsenal, Saturday, November 30.
The FA has also fined the 24-year-old £60,000 pounds ($77,286) for violent misconduct.
Also, West Ham United was fined £30,000 pounds for failing to ensure their players behaved in an unprovocative and/or non-violent manner.
The Hammers, admitting to the charge, responded in a statement, "Whilst the club is disappointed with the outcome, it respects the process that has been undertaken."
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspurs was fined £20,000 pounds in October, per the same incident.
