Queens pin down Ivory Coast 1:0
Ghana's Black Queens bested Ivory Coast 1:0 in an international friendly on Tuesday, July 14.
The hard-won victory over Ivory Coast was a part of preparations for the 2026 TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The goal came via a second-half strike from Sharon Sampson in the 75th minute to hand Ghana a deserved victory.
Both teams created chances throughout the match in a closely contested affair. However, what distinguished the Black Queens was their discipline and resilience at both ends of the pitch to secure the win.
The Black Queens will continue the training programme in Morocco with other friendly matches in the pipeline.
The WAFCON tournament begins on July 25, ending on August 16, 2026.
