Sports Minister seeks Ga Mantse’s blessings ahead of major international events
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr. Kofi Adams, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to seek his blessings ahead of key international sporting events scheduled to take place in Ghana.
The visit formed part of efforts to rally traditional support and national unity as the country prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
It also provided an opportunity for the Minister to formally brief the Ga Mantse on Ghana’s role as host of the upcoming African Senior Athletics Championship, which is set to take place in Accra this May.
The championship will serve as a qualifier for the Olympic Games, placing Ghana at the centre of continental athletics competition.
In addition, Accra is expected to host an international armwrestling championship, further boosting the country’s profile as a destination for global sporting events.
Hon. Adams emphasised the importance of collaboration between government and traditional authorities in promoting sports development and national pride.
He expressed optimism that Ghana’s hosting of these events would not only enhance its international reputation but also create opportunities for local athletes and sports enthusiasts.
The Ga Mantse, in response, welcomed the initiative and offered his blessings, underscoring the significance of sports in fostering unity and showcasing Ghana’s cultural and sporting excellence on the global stage.
