24-hour economy: Be ready for the transformation - Prof Opoku-Agyemang to companies

In a bid to reverse the economic downturn affecting the country, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has called on manufacturing companies and traders to prepare for the 24-hour economy envisioned by the next NDC government.
She explained that the 24-hour economy policy is a crucial part of the NDC's plan to rescue and reset the country from the current economic mismanagement.
This policy aims to provide benefits to companies through tax waivers, reduced tariff rates, and increased productivity.
Additionally, the job-shift system will create more employment opportunities and financial independence for workers and households.
Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs at Denkyira Bibianiha in the Upper Denkyira East constituency of the Central Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged all organizations to actively participate in the upcoming national 24-hour economy.
Her comments were in response to concerns raised by Nana Appiah Kubi, the chief of Denkyira Bibianiha, about high unemployment and poverty rates in the area, which have led to a sense of hopelessness among the youth.
"The NDC will restore hope and rebuild the economy to meet the aspirations of Ghanaians," she stated.
During her interaction with traders at the local market, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the government's duty to support small-scale enterprises with credit and to provide the necessary infrastructure for rapid development in areas like Dunkwa and Denkyira.
She reminded the Chiefs that significant infrastructure projects, such as roads, health centers, and schools, were completed under previous NDC governments, and urged them to vote massively for the NDC to continue these efforts.
“We have done it before, and you can trust us to do it again for you,” she said.
Nana Appiah Kubi, the Chief of Denkyira Bibianiha, expressed the support of the Chiefs and people for the NDC, citing their desire for economic development in the area. He prayed for the success of the NDC in the upcoming elections and requested that the rehabilitation of the local health facility be prioritized when the NDC regains power
