Deputy Finance Minister commends GRA Customs for intercepting 12 articulated trucks
The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has commended the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for intercepting 12 articulated trucks during a major enforcement operation along the Dawhenya–Tema Road in the Greater Accra Region.
He described the operation as a bold and decisive move aimed at safeguarding state revenue and strengthening compliance within the country’s import and transit trade system.
According to the Deputy Minister, the successful interception demonstrates the Customs Division’s commitment to enforcing revenue laws and curbing activities that undermine government efforts to mobilise domestic resources.
Mr. Ampem emphasised that protecting state revenue remains a top priority for the Ministry of Finance, noting that such enforcement actions are critical in ensuring fairness, accountability, and efficiency in the nation’s revenue collection processes.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the GRA to tighten border controls and enhance monitoring mechanisms to prevent revenue leakages, he added.
