Ghana courts diaspora investment at London Town Hall Meeting
The meeting brought together President John Dramani Mahama, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister James Gyakye Quayson, alongside members of the Ghanaian diaspora community.
The high-level engagement focused on Ghana’s economic outlook, governance reforms, and strategies to deepen diaspora participation in national development.
President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s economic recovery, noting growth of about 6 percent in 2025, and reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening macroeconomic stability and investment inflows.
He also described the Ghanaian diaspora as the country’s “17th Region,” underscoring their importance to national development and economic transformation.
According to the President, the newly passed GIPA Bill is expected to enhance the business environment and attract increased foreign direct investment into Ghana.
Officials at the meeting also emphasized ongoing reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and strengthening partnerships between Ghana and its global diaspora community.
The engagement forms part of government’s broader strategy to position Ghana as a competitive investment destination while leveraging diaspora capital, expertise, and networks to support economic growth.
