Samba Foods appoints 5 board directors, one secretary

Samba Foods has announced, for the information of the general investing public, that the following directors and company secretary have been appointed to replace the old directors, whose term of office has expired. 

The appointment took effect from February 23, 2023.

PROFILE OF BOARD MEMBERS OF SAMBA FOODS PLC 

Dr. Mrs. Leticia Benewah Osafo-Addo – Member 

Dr. Mrs. Leticia Benewah Osafo-Addo, age 71, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SAMBA FOODS LIMITED. 

She is a specialist anesthetist nurse, an entrepreneur and a motivational speaker. 

She holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship, Trade and Commerce from Alfred Noble University, Ukraine, M.B.A in Management Technology and Innovation, Wageningen Agricultural University, Wageningen, Netherlands, Diploma in Anesthesiology from University, KlinikStaedtishe Kranken Anstalt, Krefeld – Germany, Diploma in Intensive Care Therapy from Heedter Krankenhaus, Dusseldorf, Germany, S. R. N from Krankenhaus – Maria Hilf, Monchengladbach, Germany, Diploma in Quality Assurance and Marketing in Food Processing from International Agricultural Center – Wageningen, Netherlands, Anesthetist, University Hospital, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology – Kumasi, Ghana, Certificate in Fruit and Vegetable Processing and Preservation – Food Research Institute of C.S.I.R. – Ghana. 

Dr. Mrs. Leticia Osafo-Addo has over the years been serving on the board of many international and local institutions as well as NGOs. 

She is currently a council member of Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) Wa, council member of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Chairperson of Vocational Training for Female Board of Directors, Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee of the 2scale project - A DutchFunded Project entitled “Toward Sustainable Clusters in 2 Agribusiness through learning in Entrepreneurship”, a member of the Advisory panel of African Guarantee Fund – Denmark. 

She has won local and international recognitions and numerous awards for her entrepreneurship, innovation and her leadership style. Among them includes: National Honour for an Order of the star of the Volta – Presented by the President of Ghana in 2012; In 2020, She was adjudged by Ghana Entrepreneur Foundation as the Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur of the Decade, Gold Award; Outstanding Contribution to the Economic Development of Ghana by 3red Ghana Business Excellence Awards 2020. 

Others are CSR SME of the year by Ghana CSR Excellence Award in 2016; Country/Regional Winner – African Most Influential Woman in Business and Government (2016); Ghana Women Excellence Award by Gender and Social Protection Ministry in 2015. 

Last but not the least recognitions include Best Entrepreneur, Small Scale Category by Ghana Entrepreneur Foundation in 2013; Nobles International Award of Eminent Persons in West Africa by West Africa Nobles Forum in 2013; Noble International Award and Tema Excellence Award by Tema Metropolitan Assembly in 2013; She was also awarded with Builders of African Economies Award by Colombe Marketing and Communications – Abidjan, La Cote D’ivore in 2010; Highly Commended African Business Woman of the year by Africa Investors Award in 2006; In 2001 the Chartered Institute of Marketing of Ghana Adjudged her Marketing Woman of the year. 

Mr. Alexander Banful – Chairman 

Mr. Alexander Banful, age 68, is the immediate retired Managing Director of GSMF International, a Ghanaian private non-profit organisation that is skilled in the use of Social Marketing and other Behaviour Change techniques to motivate and empower families and individuals to achieve an improved quality of life. He served in this position from 1993-2022. 

He has over 40 years of experience working in the private sector in Ghana in a variety of industries including health, hygiene, agriculture, communications, computers, banking, production, consumer product, and contraceptive social marketing. 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in leadership and Governance. Mr. Alexander Banful has several years of experience in working on public /private sector initiatives in Health, Sanitation, Enterprise, and entrepreneurial development. 

Alex’s several years of experience in Behaviour Change Communication has revolved around the development, implementation, and successful management of various National health behavioural change campaigns including: ‘Stop AIDS Love Life”, an HIV/AIDS prevention campaign, ‘Life Choices’, a Family Planning campaign, and Anti-Malaria campaign, just to mention a few. 

He also has excellent advocacy, policy development, and leadership skills that have helped in no small measure in the success of public /private sector initiatives. 

Alex is also a writer on Leadership and Entrepreneurship and has two published books on the subjects to his credit. 

He has served on several Governing Boards of organisations including the Ghana Institute for Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Wenchi Tomato Factory, and the Ghana Business Coalition against HIV/ Aids. 

Medifem Hospital and Fertility Centre. He also held adjunct lectureship positions at the University of Ghana School of Public Health and the GIMPA Business School As Managing Director, Mr. Alexander Banful was responsible for the overall strategic development and direction as well as the management of the organisation. He was responsible for the setup and nurturing to fruition of GSMF. 

In addition to his excellent management, human and organisational development skills, he is highly skilled in all aspects of entrepreneurial development and marketing including, advertising, distribution, market research, packaging, training, and management. 

These have all been fully utilised to develop a self-sustaining organisation that has made an indelible impact on Ghanaian society. 

For over nine years, Mr. Alexander Banful worked for SC Johnson Wax Ghana, where he served in several different marketing positions including product manager, industrial business liaison, sales manager, and business development manager at the corporate level. 

Mr. Banful has been involved in every aspect of consumer products development including research and development, training of distribution teams, developing advertising and marketing strategies, overall strategic corporate planning, and business development. Mr. Alexander Banful is excellent in both written and spoken English and has an interest in the subject areas of Marketing and Social Change Marketing, Organizational Development, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership. 

Dr Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh – Member 

Dr. Joseph Nyarkotei Dorh is the Managing Director of Prime Insurance Company Limited. He is ultimately responsible for the strategic direction and executive leadership of the Company. He joined Prime Insurance in 2013 after holding numerous management roles and working in almost all the technical units of a Non-Life Insurance Company. 

He was previously, Manager in charge of the Broker Relations Unit at Star Assurance Company Limited. 

He started his career in the Insurance industry from Enterprise Insurance Company Limited in 2000, having had a stint in the classroom at Accra Academy Senior Secondary as a Mathematics and General Science tutor. 

Academically, he holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with specialization in Leadership and Organizational Behaviour from the Swiss Business School-SBS Zurich, Switzerland which he obtained from the Nobel International Business School, a Masters degree in Finance from the Central University Business School and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast with a Diploma in Education that he obtained concurrently with his degree. He also holds an Advanced Certificate in Insurance from the Ghana Insurance Collage. Joseph had his secondary education at Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School. 

Mrs Yvonne Elsie Baffour-Kwakye – Member 

Yvonne Elsie Baffour-Kwakye started her career as an Administrative Assistant during her national service in 2013 after which she joined Prime Insurance Company Limited in 2015 as an Executive Assistant to the Executive Management team and Board of Directors. 

She soon doubled as an Assistant to the Head of Human Resources & Administration thus participating in executing human resource functions and administrative tasks and has risen through the ranks to the position of Deputy Manager, Human Resources & Administration. 

Elsie’s work over the past decade has seen her gain first-hand business management and leadership skills through her close work with company leadership at all levels and in providing support to the development of effective human resource strategy for the achievement of business objectives. 

Elsie is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM). She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA, International) from Staffordshire University, UK, and a degree in BSC Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. 

Mr. Evans Arhin – Member 

Evans Arhin is an investment professional with extensive knowledge of Ghana’s financial market with several years of experience in business development, financial management, corporate finance and investment advisory with over 10 years working experience. 

He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration (Accounting Option) and Diploma in Business Administration (Management Option) both from Central University, He also holds Executive certificate in Pension Fund Management from Africa University College of Communication Studies. 

Evans has undertaken a number of courses towards improving his competence and skills in his professional field of work, which include Investment Advisory from Ghana Stock Exchange, ISACA Certification programme, Certificate in Tax and Internal Audit from KPMG and Financial Modeling from Index Cap. He has also attended a number of seminars and training to improve in his career. 

Prior to joining Salman Partners and Financial Consult as the director of operations, he worked as Pensions Fund Manager at Standard Securities Ltd and also Head of Business Development at Alpha Cap Securities Ltd. 

Evans serve as management consult for number of companies which include Class pharmaceutical, Ultimate Hotel, UCP Ltd and Tyco Farms Ltd. He is also serving as Director at Astra Gateway International, Chemarims Federation Africa ltd and Nii Cudjoe and Associate.
