Black Sherif opens up about Shatta Wale’s career-killing threat: ‘The discourse is irrelevant in my world’

Rapper and singer Black Sherif has finally revealed his true feelings about singer and record producer Shatta Wale criticising his fashion sense, and threatening to end his career.
He spoke to City FM, Lagos, Nigeria.
Sherif intimated posting an arguably unflattering picture of Shatta Wale on social media after Wale criticised the way he dresses, was not a response to said criticism.
He said it was unusual of him to respond to negative comments about his clothing and music.
“Someone does an interview. How does that stop me from posting on my Snapchat? I didn’t put up any story. I never replied anybody. Whatever they say I said, it was a lot of fans fueling stuff,” the Soja singer said.
“Me, Mohammed Ishmail Sherrif, I never replied nobody who spoke about me. I don’t reply to critics about my fashion stuff. People say a lot about my how I dress, but they are not in my wardrobe.
“I do whatever I want, [and] the music I want to make. Whatever whoever is saying about me, if it’s good, I show gratitude.”
Sherif indicated there would have been “a problem” if he was still “a big troll on social media” as he was in the past before his First and Second Sermon hits but “these days I’ve toned it down”.
He denied issuing subliminal responses on social media as traditional and new media speculated, explaining: “I’m just being my usual self.”
When it came to Shatta Wale taking offense at the Snapchat picture and issuing a threat to end his career, Black Sherif, alias Kwaku Killa, remarked: “The kind of attention to give that thing, I do not have.
“It’s pretty irrelevant in my world, the discourse and everything. You have to care about something to come out and comment but I don’t care. I don’t mean it in a disrespectful way.”
“It’s like I’m going on my way and I see a helicopter flying in another direction. I’d keep walking and give it no attention,” the Kwaku the Traveller singer illustrated.
