Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Slim Buster has advised emerging artists to be cautious about depending on women to finance their music careers, warning that such arrangements often come with strings attached.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on January 27, 2026, the seasoned performer noted that many young musicians without stable financial backing tend to rely on women for support.

According to him, this can create emotional and personal obligations that may later affect their independence and decision-making.

He explained that accepting financial help may lead to expectations that could complicate both an artist’s personal life and professional growth.

“Most upcoming artists don’t have money, so they depend on some women.

But when a woman helps you, remember she may eventually ask for something in return,” Slim Buster stated.

The musician urged young talents to think carefully before entering such arrangements and to be mindful of the responsibilities that come with accepting support.

He further cautioned that neglecting or distancing oneself from these benefactors after achieving success could result in serious consequences.

“Once you allow someone to support you, you must be ready to stand by them, whether things are good or bad.

If you walk away because you’ve made it, they will come for you,” he added.
