Ambassador Kojo Choi has formally presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung, officially marking the start of his tenure as Ghana’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

Reflecting on the symbolism of the moment, Mr Choi drew a personal parallel between his life story and the diplomatic history of the two countries.

“I felt Ghana’s remarkable journey reflected in my own. I was born in 1977, the same year Ghana and Korea established diplomatic relations,” he underscored in a Facebook post on Friday, December 12, 2025.

He reaffirmed his Ghanaian identity, patriotism, and deep commitment to serving the country in his new role.

Recalling his early years in Ghana, Mr Choi expressed gratitude for the formative influence of the nation on his life.

“When I arrived in Ghana at a young age, you all welcomed me, shaped me, and the nation Ghana became my new motherland where my character and calling were formed.”

He noted that his return to Korea now carries a profound sense of purpose.

“Now, 34 years later, I return to Korea not as a visitor, but as a proud son of Ghana entrusted with our nation’s highest diplomatic mandate,” he added.

Mr Choi also revealed that during the credential ceremony, President Lee Jae Myung conveyed warm regards to President John Mahama, expressing a strong desire to deepen bilateral ties and the hope of meeting in the near future.

Looking ahead, the ambassador framed the moment as a turning point in Ghana–Korea relations.

“As we approach 50 years of Ghana–Korea relations, we step into a new era of genuine partnership and shared destiny. Ghana’s story has always been one of resilience, brilliance, and divine purpose,” he underlined.

He pledged to deploy the full authority of his office in service of Ghana’s national interest and global image.

“With deep honor, I begin this mission in full authority, dedicated to lifting Ghana’s light even higher on the world stage,” Mr Choi said, concluding with a prayer: “God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong. Amen.”
