The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) under the Ghana Health Service(GHS) has constituted a thematic expert group to undertake a midterm review of its 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, two years after its launch.

The two-day desk review meeting is being held in collaboration with development partners and key stakeholders to assess progress made in implementing the National Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan (NMESP) 2024–2028.

The exercise will also evaluate the financing of the programme and recommend practical measures to accelerate Ghana’s drive toward malaria elimination in line with international best practices.

According to the NMEP, the expert group has been tasked with conducting a credible, comprehensive and evidence-based assessment of programme implementation.

The team is expected to identify gaps and bottlenecks while proposing strategic adjustments to ensure the country remains on course to achieve its malaria elimination targets.

The review forms part of broader efforts to strengthen malaria control interventions and sustain gains made in reducing the disease burden nationwide.
