BE/R: Techiman Police return GHS85,000 found on highway to owner
The Bono East Regional Police Command has returned GHS85,000 to its rightful owner after it was found lying on the Techiman-Kumasi Highway.
The incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at around 4:20 AM, when officers at the Police Snap Check Point spotted a bag on the roadside, believed to have fallen from a moving vehicle.
The bag was labeled with the name “Ofori” and a contact number.
Led by Inspector George Appiah, the officers retrieved the bag and discovered it contained a large sum of cash.
Using the contact number, they reached 53-year-old businessman Stephen Ofori from Ashtown, Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who confirmed the money was his.
Mr Ofori explained that he was transporting the cash from GCB Bank in Wa to Kumasi via a commercial vehicle.
The GHS85,000 was counted and verified in Mr Ofori’s presence before being handed over to him by the police.
The Bono East Regional Police Command commended both the officers involved and community members who brought the bag to their attention, highlighting the importance of vigilance, honesty, and cooperation in safeguarding public property.
The move enhances the bond of trust between the police and the citizenry and sets a glowing example of uprightness and integrity.
