Deputy Finance Minister installs solar streetlights on Dodi Island
Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has led the installation of new solar streetlights on Dodi Island, marking a major step toward improved safety and sustainable development for the community.
The island, which is not connected to the national electricity grid, has long relied on alternative sources of power.
According to the Deputy Minister, the solar lighting initiative goes beyond illumination, offering residents greater security, enhanced social and economic activity at night, and a boost to community development.
He expressed gratitude to Amar Solar Firm for their support in making the project possible, describing the collaboration as a valuable partnership that brings transformative change to the island.
“This venture means so much more than just lighting; it is an essential step toward improved safety, sustainable development, and a bustling night-time environment for all,” Mr. Nyarko Ampem said in a statement.
He added that the initiative reflects the broader vision for Asuogyaman—one centred on sustainability, innovation, and improved quality of life for all residents.
“Together, we are building a safer and more sustainable Asuogyaman,” he stated.
