E/R: Three dead, several injured in fatal accident at Asuboi on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Three people have been confirmed dead, with several others sustaining varying degrees of injuries following a tragic accident at Asuboi in the Ayensuano District on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred around 3:25 PM when a Sprinter bus driver reportedly attempted to swerve to avoid a schoolgirl crossing the road.
In the process, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into a group of market women waiting at a nearby bus stop.
According to initial police investigations, the driver’s effort to avoid the schoolgirl may have contributed to the crash.
The incident led to the immediate death of three individuals, while others were rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital and the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for emergency treatment.
The crash caused significant vehicular traffic on the busy highway, prompting a swift response from the Ghana Police Service and emergency medical teams who worked to clear the scene and restore the flow of traffic.
The Ayensuano District Chief Executive, Mr. Joshua Yaw Frederick, visited the injured victims at both the Suhum and Koforidua hospitals.
He confirmed that the survivors, many of whom suffered second-degree injuries, are responding to treatment.
In a show of support, the DCE donated cash to cover medical expenses and mortuary fees, fulfilling a promise to assist the victims and their families.
Speaking to Accra FM and CTV News, the Queenmother of Asuboi Anom Community, Nana Odeibea Ebisansu III, commended the DCE for his swift intervention and compassionate leadership.
She also appealed to the government to address the poor state of roads in the area to prevent further tragedies.
