Eight individuals have been arrested and prosecuted for violating sanitation regulations in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The offenders were caught dumping refuse within the Central Business District (CBD) of Kasoa.
The arrests were made by an ad-hoc task force set up by the Municipal Assembly to clamp down on poor sanitation practices.
The culprits were apprehended while engaging in the act of indiscriminate dumping and have since been arraigned before the court.
Some of the cases have already been concluded, with fines imposed on the offenders.
Speaking to Class News, the Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini, disclosed that the Assembly is preparing to launch a permanent sanitation task force.
This new unit, composed of personnel from various state security agencies, will intensify patrols and ensure stricter enforcement of sanitation bylaws across the municipality.

He warned residents to desist from breaching sanitation laws, stressing that anyone found culpable will face the full rigour of the law.
