The Eze Igbo Palace in Ghana has firmly denied recent social media allegations suggesting that the Igbo community has acquired 50 acres of land in Ningo, Greater Accra Region, for the establishment of an “Igbo Village.”

In an official statement released by the Head of Communications, Onney Gogo, the palace described the reports as entirely false and misleading.

“We want to state unequivocally and without reservation that we have not currently acquired any land in Ningo or elsewhere in Ghana for the purpose of establishing an Igbo Village,” the statement read.

The misinformation, according to the palace, appears to stem from a 2013 interview granted by Eze Ohazurume I of Ndigbo on Crystal TV.

That interview, they clarified, was a follow-up to his coronation in September 2012 and referenced an initiative that was later abandoned.

“Plans discussed in that interview never materialized due to disputes surrounding rightful ownership of the land.

Those plans were cancelled as far back as 2014,” the palace explained.

They emphasized that no land in Ghana has been earmarked or purchased for such a project, urging the public to disregard the circulating claims.

Eze Ohazurume I, who has lived in Ghana since 1995 and is married to a Ghanaian businesswoman, was praised for his deep respect for Ghanaian laws and customs.

The palace stressed that the Igbo leader remains committed to promoting peace and harmony between the Igbo and Ghanaian communities.

“We would never engage in any activity that would mar the strong relationship between the Igbo people residing here and the Ghanaian community,” the statement said.

The palace called for responsible discourse and urged individuals spreading false information to desist, reiterating that there is no current or planned acquisition of land for an “Igbo Village” in Ghana.
