The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, received Open Letters from seven newly appointed envoys representing the Republic of Sudan, Kingdom of Denmark, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, European Union, Kingdom of Norway, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

He congratulated them on their appointments and wished them successful tours of duty in Ghana.

In his meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Sudan, H.E. Mr. Gariballa Khidir Ali, the Minister reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting Sudan’s peace efforts, recalling Ghana’s past contributions to peacekeeping in the country.

The envoy noted improvements in Sudan’s situation and stressed the importance of “African solutions to African problems.”

Engaging with the Ambassador-designate of Denmark, H.E. Mr. Jakob Linulf, Mr. Ablakwa highlighted Ghana’s efforts to add value to raw materials, enhance food security, and restore degraded lands.

Mr. Linulf reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to development cooperation in areas such as climate change and clean water, and proposed the possibility of a future Green Strategic Partnership.

In discussions with the UK’s High Commissioner-designate, H.E. Mr. Christian Stefan Rogg, the Minister outlined Ghana’s economic diplomacy agenda aimed at modernising the economy and boosting investment.

Mr. Rogg praised Ghana’s role in regional security and proposed knowledge-sharing in customs management.

The High Commissioner-designate of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Najeeb Durrani, stressed his country’s renewed commitment to Ghana, noting the reopening of Pakistan’s Mission and recent trade delegations exploring opportunities in agriculture and agro-processing.

He added that Pakistan offers a 24-hour e-visa service for Ghanaians and is ready to provide training programmes.

Mr. Ablakwa welcomed stronger economic cooperation in line with Ghana’s development agenda.

With the EU’s Ambassador-designate, H.E. Mr. Rune Skinnebach, discussions focused on the Union’s investments in renewable energy and environmental sustainability.

Mr. Skinnebach assured Ghana of continued EU support in deepening bilateral cooperation.

Talks with Norway’s Ambassador-designate, H.E. Mr. John Mikal Kvistad, centred on capacity building in oil exploration and revenue management, ongoing support to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), and collaboration under the Ocean Panel initiative.

Both sides agreed to explore broader cooperation on the Blue Economy.

Finally, in his meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Wael Fathy Ahmed, the Minister outlined the Government’s “Big Push Agenda” and called for stronger institutional cooperation to advance this vision.

Both parties agreed to work towards strengthening bilateral ties through a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation.
