Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza, has reaffirmed the government’s confidence in Ghanaian contractors as the ambitious ‘Big Push’ infrastructure agenda takes off.

According to him, the initiative will serve as a clear demonstration that local contractors are not only capable but also adequately equipped to deliver quality infrastructure projects across the country.

Mr. Agbodza further emphasised the need for accountability and sustainability in project execution, directing all contractors under the programme to secure proper insurance cover for their works.

He warned that failure to do so could result in insurance guarantees being activated to fund repairs where necessary.

The ‘Big Push’ is expected to channel significant investment into roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure, with the government positioning indigenous firms at the heart of delivery.

He made this comment at the launch of the Big Push agenda at Ho in  the Volta Region on Tuesday, September 16, 2025

“This is about proving that Ghanaian expertise can stand tall. We are giving our contractors the platform, but we also expect the highest standards of professionalism,” the Minister stressed.

The government maintains that prioritising local contractors under the agenda will not only boost confidence in the industry but also retain economic value within the country.
