GA/R: Nungua Stool condemns alleged illegal occupation of Nmai Djor lands
The Nungua Stool in the Greater Accra Region has strongly condemned what it describes as the unlawful invasion and occupation of its ancestral lands at Nmai Djor, accusing Trasacco and the Okpelor Sowah Din Family of Teshie of illegally developing the area.
In a statement, the Stool alleged that the parties involved have deployed armed land guards and may be using the influence of some National Security personnel to carry out the developments, despite the existence of ongoing court processes over the land.
The condemnation follows a violent shooting incident on January 10, 2026, which the Stool says endangered lives and posed a serious threat to public peace and security in the area.
According to the Stool, the incident reflects a growing pattern of lawlessness, allegedly emboldened by the involvement of certain political actors.
The Nungua Stool insists that its ownership of the Nmai Djor lands has been conclusively affirmed by the courts.
It cited Supreme Court judgments, including Empire Builders Ltd vs. Topkins Enterprises Ltd & Others (2020) and Nii Daniel Marleynai vs. Katamanso Stool & The Lands Commission (2023), which it says clearly establish the Stool’s lawful ownership of the disputed lands.
The Stool described claims by the Okpelor Sowah Din Family as spurious and already rejected by the judiciary, stressing that any attempts to sell or develop the land without its consent are illegal.
As a result, the Nungua Stool has cautioned the general public, prospective land buyers and developers against acquiring land from the Okpelor Sowah Din Family at Nmai Djor, warning that such transactions are not legally valid.
The Stool has also called on state security agencies to intervene urgently, restore law and order, and prevent further escalation, while ensuring respect for court rulings and the rule of law.
