GNFS rescues accident victim on Tema-Akosombo highway

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has said it has rescued a driver who was trapped in his vehicle after it crashed into a tree.
"On Monday, 15th September 2025, the Kpong Fire Station received a distress accident call at 6:21 a.m. and swiftly dispatched a rescue team at 6:23 a.m. to Adelekope on the Tema–Akosombo Highway, arriving at 6:32 a.m," a GNFS statement from the Eastern Regional Public Relations Office explained.
"The crew found a Howo Tipper Truck (GN 9147-17) that had veered off the road and crashed into a tree. GNFS Rescuers used extrication tools to rescue the trapped driver, who was handed over to the National Ambulance Service and rushed to Akuse Government Hospital for treatment."
"The crashed scene was cleared at 8:55 a.m. and the crew returned safely to base at 9:06 a.m.," the GNFS noted.
The services, also, highlighted that the "cause of the crash remains under investigation".
