Israeli Ambassador urges Ghana’s faith communities to pray for peace in Gaza
The Roey Gilad, Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, has called on Christian and Muslim communities in the country to offer prayers for calm and lasting peace in Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Ghana-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association, Ambassador Gilad said Israel remains committed to achieving peace.
However, he warned that his country may be forced to adopt what he described as “peace enforcement” measures if Gaza does not disarm.
According to him, the continued hostilities have come at a heavy cost, revealing that nearly 2,000 Israeli soldiers have died since the war with Palestine escalated in 2023.
The envoy emphasised that Israel has no intention of occupying or taking control of the Gaza Strip, insisting that its primary objective is to guarantee security and stability rather than expand territory.
He appealed for solidarity from Ghana’s religious bodies, noting that prayers and moral support for peace could contribute to de-escalation and the protection of innocent lives on all sides of the conflict.
