Ken Ofori-Atta: Fmr Fin. Min. declared a fugitive by OSP
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), led by Kissi Agyebeng, has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.
Agyebeng said, "The fugitive's name is Kenneth Ofori-Atta," during a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Thus, he declared, "You have two choices, either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or the OSP will enforce your return."
He explained Ofori-Atta was wanted on the grounds of causing financial loss to the state in dealings like the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) - Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
He noted Ofori Atta was responsible for releasing state funds for the controversial project promised by former President Nana Akufo-Addo, which never took off beyond a foundation.
Ken Ofori-Atta authorised the release of a staggering ¢142.7million for the national cathedral project in 2020, at the request of then Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
The Rev Kusi Boateng-led Board of Trustees of the project has also been accused of mismanaging funds.
