Kristo Asafo Mission: Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I installed as new leader
The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has officially announced the installation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I as the new head of the church.
The announcement was made on Sunday, June 21, 2026, through the mission’s official Facebook page, which featured a video marking his elevation to leadership.
In the post, the mission characterized the installation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I — son of the late founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka — as a major milestone. The leadership extended prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he assumes his new responsibilities, noting that the legacy and vision of the founder would continue to guide future generations.
The transition comes amid a legal challenge, following reports of a High Court injunction filed by two senior church members seeking to halt the succession process over constitutional eligibility concerns.
Additionally, unconfirmed reports have circulated regarding an alleged shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo at a church property in Kwabenya.
While local media reported an altercation at the premises, the Kristo Asafo Mission has issued a statement categorically denying that any shooting occurred, calling the allegations false and misleading.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
