Mahama extends Ramadan greetings to Muslim community
President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Dramani Mahama, have extended warm wishes to Muslims across Ghana and beyond as they prepare to begin the holy month of Ramadan.
In a goodwill message ahead of the fasting period, Mr. Mahama described Ramadan as a sacred time of reflection, renewal, and unity within the Muslim community.
He prayed for good health, peace of mind, and abundant blessings for all Muslims observing the month-long fast.
“Ramadan is truly a special time; a month of reflection, renewal, and coming together as one community,” the President stated, expressing hope that the period would strengthen the faith and devotion of believers.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion to deepen their spiritual commitment, seek purification of the heart, and draw closer to Allah through prayer and good deeds.
Mr. Mahama also emphasised that the essence of Ramadan goes beyond abstaining from food and drink, highlighting the importance of discipline, compassion, and generosity — particularly toward the less privileged in society.
“As you break your fast each evening with family and friends, remember that the true beauty of Ramadan lies not just in abstaining from food, but in the compassion and generosity we show to others,” he noted.
The President further called on Ghanaians to use the holy month as an opportunity to strengthen bonds of unity, love, and peace within communities.
Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is observed annually by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity.
