The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Gilbert Kenneth Adjei, has stated that the desilting and dredging of the Odaw River is expected to be completed by December 2027.
Updating Parliament, the minister said work on the flood control project is progressing steadily and remains on schedule.
He explained that the intervention is part of the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project, which aims to improve drainage infrastructure, reduce flood risks, and enhance climate resilience in vulnerable communities within the capital.
Mr Adjei also disclosed that construction works commenced in February 2024, with funding provided under the GARID Project to support the river improvement works.
