President John Dramani Mahama has named Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective immediately.

A statement released by the authority on February 23, 2026, confirmed the appointment.

Mr Kanor brings more than 30 years of experience in customs administration, revenue mobilisation, border security and trade facilitation. The GRA described him as an experienced professional whose work has been marked by integrity, operational discipline and public service.

Before taking up the new role, he served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, overseeing enforcement of customs regulations, revenue collection and trade facilitation activities. His tenure in that position was associated with strengthened border controls and improved compliance in Ghana’s international trade processes.

Throughout his career, Mr Kanor has occupied several senior posts across the country. These include: Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as Chief Revenue Officer in multiple operational jurisdictions. In these capacities, he led intelligence-based operations targeting smuggling, invoice falsification and criminal networks involved in vehicle identification manipulation.

He has also contributed to modernisation efforts within the Customs Division, supporting the rollout of electronic valuation systems and reforms aimed at improving efficiency and reducing cargo clearance times.

According to the GRA, his appointment is expected to reinforce customs administration, strengthen compliance and support economic growth through more secure and efficient trade systems.

The board, management and staff of the authority congratulated Mr Kanor and also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner, Glover Ashong Annan, for his service and leadership.
