Twifo Atti-Morkwa MP clarifies remarks on KNUST SHS viral video

Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency, Theophilus Dominic VonDee, has moved to clarify comments he made on Adom TV regarding a viral video involving a student and her assistant headmaster at KNUST Senior High School.
Speaking to Class News, the MP said his remarks had been misrepresented, stressing that he did not in any way endorse forced conduct or defend the teacher’s actions.
According to Mr. VonDee, his initial statement was intended to reflect his observation that the video did not appear to show evidence of coercion, noting that the girl seemed to be “in a joyful mood” and engaging willingly.
However, he emphasised that the Assistant Headmaster’s behaviour amounted to misconduct and a criminal act, which must be condemned and punished.
The MP acknowledged that some of his remarks—particularly those on consent and the girl’s age—were taken out of context. He clarified that he did not know her exact age but had spoken from the understanding that she had completed Senior Secondary School.
He reiterated that teachers engaging in inappropriate relationships with students is unacceptable under any circumstances, regardless of consent.
Mr. VonDee also called for a thorough review of the video before final judgments are made, urging the public not to misinterpret his statements.
He extended an apology to anyone who felt offended or misunderstood his earlier comments, insisting that his sole intention was to promote responsible behaviour and safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s educational institutions.
