The victims, a young boy and a girl, were among over 40 schoolchildren on board a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus when the accident occurred on the Assin Homaho road.
Central North Regional MTTD Commander, DSP Wonder Lumor, confirmed the news to Adom News.
He revealed that the 40 injured pupils were quickly transported to nearby medical centres for immediate care.
DSP Lumor added that 22 of the children were taken to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital, while the other 18 were sent to the Assin Edubiase Health Centre. He later confirmed that all 40 injured pupils received treatment and have now been discharged to their families.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the crash along the Assin Homaho stretch.
The incident has cast a heavy shadow of grief over the Assin Edubiase community, leaving families, teachers, and residents heartbroken over the untimely deaths of the two children.
