V/R:15 dead, 25 injured in horrific road crash at Peki-Tsame
Fifteen people lost their lives and 25 others sustained injuries in a deadly road traffic accident at Peki-Tsame in the Volta Region on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday near Peki Senior High School.
It involved a Mercedes-Benz container truck travelling from Nkwanta to Accra and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus heading from Battor to Kabiti in the Oti Region.
According to initial reports, the two vehicles collided with devastating impact, resulting in significant loss of life and multiple injuries.
The bodies of the 15 deceased victims have been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital mortuary for identification, preservation, and further investigations.
The 25 injured persons have been rushed to various health facilities in the area for urgent medical attention.
Authorities from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Ghana Police Service have commenced investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident. Factors such as excessive speed, fatigue, mechanical fault, or poor visibility are expected to be examined.
