Police arrest 14, including National Security operatives, over demolition of buildings in Gomoa Akoti and Ojobi
The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command has arrested 14 individuals, including 12 alleged National Security operatives and two suspected landguards, for the unlawful demolition of more than 60 buildings under construction in Gomoa Akoti and Ojobi in the Central Region.
The incident, which reportedly occurred at night, has left residents and property developers in shock and fear.
Victims claim the suspects stormed the area, pulled down structures, and demanded large sums of money.
Some affected developers, speaking to Accra 100.5 FM, appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols in the area and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Traditional leaders in Gomoa Akoti have also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene decisively and ensure that the alleged landguards face prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
They expressed concern over what they described as a blatant disregard for the law and the negative impact of the demolitions on the community.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
The case has sparked concerns over the alleged involvement of National Security personnel and renewed calls for accountability and stronger measures to curb landguard activities in the area.
