Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested seven suspected members of a human trafficking syndicate and rescued dozens of victims following two intelligence-led operations in Ho in the Volta Region.

The suspects, Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku, were arrested on January 8 and 10, 2026, during coordinated operations at Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction.

Police say a total of 48 victims were rescued during the exercise. The victims, mostly young adults and students, were allegedly deceived with promises of overseas travel and subjected to exploitative and coercive conditions.

Searches conducted at the various locations led to the retrieval of official receipts issued to victims after money had been collected under the guise of processing travel visas. Other documents believed to be connected to fraudulent activities were also seized.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace the families of the rescued victims and to apprehend additional suspects believed to be part of the syndicate who remain at large.

In a statement, GPS reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organised trafficking and fraud networks and protecting the public from criminal exploitation.
