The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a formal public notice warning all tertiary institutions, students, and the general public against engaging with a growing number of unrecognised and unaccredited institutions linked to operations in Ghana and abroad.

According to the Commission, the institutions listed have failed to meet Ghana’s accreditation and quality assurance standards, and as such, any qualifications or certifications issued by them will not be recognised for academic or professional purposes within the country.

In its latest communication, GTEC outlined an expanded list of 50 institutions that are not recognised.

The notice emphasised that dealings with such entities could result in serious academic and professional repercussions for unsuspecting students and employers.

Among the institutions cited are:

No. Institution Country of Origin 1 Universidad Azteca Mexico 2 Indian School of Management and Studies India 3 Breyer State Theology University USA 4 Debest College of Science, Arts and Business Ghana 5 Osiri University USA 6 Atlantic International University USA 7 Faith University Seminary (FUS) Ghana 8 Christian University College Monrovia, Liberia 9 Rhema Bible Training College (RBTC) USA 10 Universidad Empresarial de Costa Rica Costa Rica 11 Selinus University of Sciences and Literature Italy 33 New Life Bible College and Seminary USA 34 East Bridge University Paris France 35 Taxila American University Guyana 36 Vision International University USA 37 Keisie International University USA 38 Dublin Metropolitan University UK/Cyprus 39 Logos University USA 40 University of America USA 41 Kazian School of Management India 42 University of Northwest, Brooklyn USA 43 Akamai University, Hawaii USA 44 Trinity Graduate School of Apologetics and Theology (TGSAT) India 45 American Bible University USA 46 California Creek University USA 47 Universidad Catolica De Murcia Spain 48 Delta International University USA 49 National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) India 50 Southern California International University USA

GTEC urged all heads of tertiary institutions, students, and the general public to exercise extreme caution and verify the accreditation status of any university or college before enrolling or forming partnerships.

“The Commission wishes to remind the public that these institutions are not recognized by GTEC due to breaches in accreditation and quality assurance protocols,” the statement read.

“We expect all stakeholders to treat this caution with the seriousness it deserves.”

The Commission further advised prospective students to cross-check institutional legitimacy through its official website (www.gtec.edu.gh) or contact its offices via email at [email protected].

GTEC reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of Ghana’s tertiary education system and ensuring that qualifications obtained within and outside the country meet internationally accepted academic and professional standards.
