‎Pupils and teachers of Imam Seidu Islamic Primary School in Tanoso, Techiman Municipality, now have a new reason to smile.‎

‎A brand new 6-unit classroom block has been officially handed over to the school. The facility includes a headmaster’s office, a store room, a library, a 6-seater water closet toilet facility, and a mechanised borehole.‎

‎The ultramodern infrastructure was commissioned on July 15, 2026, by the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Kwaku Agyei Mensah, alongside the Municipal Education Director (MED).

‎For years, innocent children at the school studied under cashew trees along an accident-prone section of the highway. That dangerous chapter has now come to an end.

‎The life-saving project was facilitated by the CEO of NAK 3 Construction Services Ltd, who also doubles as the Chief of Kuntanase Deduako in the Ashanti Region, Nana Agyei Panin II.

‎Speaking exclusively to Class News reporter Issah Nabila Salifu after the ceremony, Nana Panin II said his motivation came from the risk the children faced daily.

‎According to him, he took the information to the immediate former Education Minister, Dr Yaw Adutwum, which led to the contract being awarded under the GALOP programme, sponsored by the World Bank.

‎"I was heading to Techiman after settling here one day and I saw children studying under the cashew trees in two separate classes," he said.

‎What made the situation more dire was the close distance of that location to the main highway. I noticed a tragedy could easily occur as all manner of vehicles ply through that stretch to neighbouring countries like Burkina Faso Niger, Male etc. so I immediately contacted the then Minister of Education Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum, informed him about the situation in Tanoso Islamic School, provided details about the school and here we are today," he further narrated.

‎Headmaster of Imam Seidu Islamic Primary School, Hussein Zakariya, expressed profound appreciation and excitement over the project, acknowledging that the facilities embedded in the project are top notch, beyond imagination and highly commendable.

‎"We are so excited and so thankful to Nana for this wonderful project which magnitude and quality is beyond our comprehension, and we promise to ensure good maintenance culture is adhered to. We urge parents and other stakeholders to cooperate with us in capitalizing on this gesture to help improve academic performance," he said. 

‎Mr Zakariya further highlighted some challenges which need to be addressed as they keep hindering academic progress and proper maintenance of the facilities.

"We lack computers or ICT materials, no books to fill the library facility provided, unavailability of dedicated security guard and many others," he revealed.

‎Techiman MCE Kwaku Agyei Mensah commended the facilitator/contractor for the quality of work done. He recommended that GETFund consider the same standard of infrastructure for its projects.

‎"I have attended so many school projects but this one is exceptional. I will urge GET FUND authorities to ensure this standard of infrastructure in their subsequent projects," he said.

‎The MCE further assured school authorities of the assembly’s readiness to help fix the school’s furniture deficit gradually.

‎He concluded by issuing a strong warning to "rascals and area boys" who are deeply involved in social vices to desist from turning the school infrastructure into a market center, base or place of convenience where "they engage in weed smoking, tramadol intake and easing themselves and sometimes destroy furniture". He cautioned of apprehensions as "the law will take its course and 6-year jail term would be enough for such characters" 

‎Teachers, pupils, and parents described the project as a great relief and a source of immeasurable joy. The new facility is expected to significantly improve teaching and learning at the school.
