Tema East MP urges industries to support ‘Back to School’ initiative for JHS graduates

Speaking at a presentation ceremony where over 800 JHS graduates received school supplies, Mr. Odamtten said industries that benefit from the Tema community should demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility by investing in education and youth development.
“It is only fair that the industries, which contribute to pollution in the area, also take up such educational interventions as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility,” he stated.
The event, held under the theme of empowering young learners for a brighter future, saw day students receiving school bags filled with exercise books, pens, pencils, and mathematical sets, while boarding students were presented with trunks, chop boxes, provisions, toiletries, buckets, and other essentials to ease their transition into SHS life.
Mr. Odamtten reaffirmed his commitment to making the Back to School initiative a permanent feature of his office’s educational support programmes.
He urged corporate entities within Tema’s industrial hub to partner with his office to ensure the long-term sustainability and expansion of the initiative.
“The Back to School programme has come to stay,” he said. “We are calling on our corporate partners in Tema to come on board so we can reach more students and support more families.”
The Tema East legislator also encouraged constituents, especially the youth, to take advantage of the government’s skills development and entrepreneurship programmes, available through his office and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, to secure opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Mr. Odamtten noted that education and skills training remain key tools for empowering the youth and building a more resilient community.
