BE/R: Kadue youth call for swift resolution to chieftaincy dispute amid rising tensions

The youth of Kadue in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region are calling on the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), the National House of Chiefs, and the National Peace Council to intervene immediately in a growing chieftaincy dispute in the area, warning that failure to act could lead to unrest and possible bloodshed.
Addressing the media on behalf of the Kadue Youth Association, spokesperson Akwasi Anane expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the community following the alleged unlawful installation of a Benkumhene by the Yeji Manhene.
He stated that the youth and elders of Kadue recognise only Nana Lanta V as the legitimate chief, who has held the title since 1982.
Master Anane noted that the peace in the town has been disrupted ever since the Yeji Manhene became involved in the area’s traditional leadership matters.
The youth accused the Yeji Manhene of meddling in Kadue’s affairs and called for immediate intervention to restore peace and respect traditional authority.
Some residents also directed their frustrations at the Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Boam, accusing him of failing to fulfil his 2024 campaign promise to help resolve the long-standing dispute.
Meanwhile, Nana Rose Asamoa, the Adontenhemaa of Kadue, appealed to government authorities and development partners to bring infrastructure and development projects to the town, which she said has been neglected due to the prolonged conflict.
The community is urging all relevant stakeholders to act swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating further
