Clergy love for wealth and politics dimming Easter spirit- Prophet

Head Pastor of the Cross Over Prayer Ministry, Prophet Isaac Ahorsu, has voiced concern over what he describes as a noticeable decline in Christian enthusiasm for Easter conventions and other religious festivities.
He attributes this troubling trend to the actions of some pastors.
Delivering a sermon during Easter Sunday service, Prophet Ahorsu remarked that many Christians are gradually losing interest in spiritual gatherings, primarily due to the conduct of certain church leaders who, according to him, prioritise materialism and political involvement over genuine spiritual leadership.
“Today, some pastors flaunt wealth and align themselves with partisan politics, creating the impression that the Church is more of a business than a place of spiritual refuge,” he said.
“This constant display of affluence, while congregants struggle, makes people question the integrity of the faith.”
He warned that such behaviours are not only damaging the image of the Church but also eroding the trust that congregants once had in religious leaders.
According to Prophet Ahorsu, this disconnect has led many believers to withdraw from church activities and spiritual engagements altogether.
He urged his fellow pastors to return to the core mission of the Church—preaching the word of God and serving with humility.
“We must reflect the love and teachings of Christ, not chase after wealth and power,” he stated.
Prophet Ahorsu’s message comes at a time when public conversations about the role of religious leaders in Ghanaian society are intensifying, especially around issues of accountability and the spiritual well-being of congregants.
