E/R: MP organizes 'Shop -n-Go' for the elderly
Mr. Michael Okyere Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South in the Eastern Region and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry over the weekend led the annual "Shop 'n' Go" event for the elderly in his constituency, offering the elderly the opportunity to select essential items at no cost.
This gesture, held on Sunday, was a tribute to the elderly’s significant contributions to the community.
The initiative, organized by Mr Baafi every year, allows the elderly to receive essential market items as a way of showing appreciation.
Mr. Baafi explained the inspiration behind the event, saying, "I organize this event every year because I deeply believe that the elderly are our mothers and fathers too, deserving of honour and care."
He referenced Exodus 20:12, emphasizing the importance of honouring parents as a foundation for a strong, compassionate community.
The "Shop 'n' Go" event drew support from community members and local partners, creating a meaningful experience for the elderly.
Mr. Baafi expressed his gratitude to all contributors, saying, "Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s edition—together, we are making a difference in the lives of our cherished elders."
This event was part of Mr. Baafi's ongoing commitment to uplifting the elderly, and he encouraged the community to continue celebrating and supporting their invaluable role in society.
