Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) to stay alert against any form of illegal pressure exerted on the judiciary.

During the swearing-in ceremony for the new President and executives of the GBA in Accra on Monday, 4 November 2024, the AG underscored the necessity of safeguarding judicial independence as a cornerstone of the rule of law.

“The Bar must prevent and condemn each and every act of illegal pressure on the Judiciary,” he noted, highlighting the responsibility of legal practitioners in maintaining the integrity of the judicial system.

He also cautioned against the influence of “unscrupulous persons who undermine the independence of the Judiciary by tarnishing its image unjustifiably.”

The AG added that preserving the integrity of the judiciary is vital for upholding the “purity, dignity, and majesty of our courts.”
