S/R: Provide immediate relief for Buipe flood victims – Jinapor tells gov’t
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei-Kusawgu, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, has called on the government and the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), to take steps to supply relief items to flood victims who have been displaced at Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savanna Region.
Recent heavy rains submerged houses, roads, farms among others.
Between 800 and 1,500 locals were displaced by the disaster.
The victims not only lost their places of abode but also sources of livelihood with damages estimated to run into millions of Ghana cedis.
“It is very critical that immediate relief is brought to mitigate the human suffering which is getting unbearable,” Mr Jinapor appealed.
He implored government and NGOs, international aid agencies and philanthropists to, as a matter of urgency, support the victims as those displaced by the catastrophe are in dire need for shelter, food and clean drinking water.
