#2024Polls: Commonwealth Observer Mission praises Ghana for peaceful, successful elections
Ghana’s 2024 general elections have been hailed as peaceful and successful by the Commonwealth Observer Group.
Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, the leader of the Commonwealth Observer Mission, praised Ghana for its composure during the elections, which were deemed free, fair, transparent, and decisive.
The former Botswana president thanked the Ghanaian government and institutions for their efforts, noting Ghana remained a shining star in Africa.
He also expressed his intention to share the success story with other Commonwealth member states, highlighting hope for Africa’s democratic dispensation.
The Commonwealth Observer Group’s commendation is a testament to Ghana’s reputable commitment to democratic excellence in Africa.
Dr Masisi encouraged the National Election Security Task Force, led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, to share its experiences with other Commonwealth countries, to enhance the conduct of elections therein.
This positive assessment echoes the Commonwealth Observer Group's previous commendations for Ghana’s elections.
