Deputy Energy Minister updates Gomoa Assin Traditional Council on major development projects in Gomoa West
The Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition and Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has outlined a series of ongoing and planned development projects aimed at transforming communities across the constituency.
The update was delivered during the Annual Executive Council Meeting of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council held at Gomoa Tarkwa, where the MP joined the President and Paramount Chief of the Council, Obirifo Ohunanko Ankobea II, and other traditional leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gyan-Mensah briefed the chiefs on key infrastructure and socio-economic initiatives being implemented through government and the Gomoa West District Assembly to improve living conditions and accelerate development in the area.
Among the projects highlighted were electricity extension and intensification works in approximately 70 communities, a constituency-wide street-lighting programme, and the rehabilitation and construction of major road networks, including the Apam–Ankamu–Dawurampong–Afransi Road, Apam Township Roads, Apam–Mumford–Dago–Otuam Road, and the Gomoa Oguaa–Akropong–Ajumako Techiman Road.
The Deputy Minister also outlined investments in information technology and digital skills training programmes aimed at equipping young people with employable skills for the modern economy.
Other development interventions include the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, classroom blocks, and the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market, which is expected to stimulate local commerce and create employment opportunities.
Mr. Gyan-Mensah further informed the traditional leaders about upcoming initiatives designed to generate jobs for the youth and enhance the overall quality of life for residents across the constituency.
He described the various projects as evidence of a broader agenda to reposition Gomoa West for sustainable growth, increased economic activity, and improved social infrastructure.
The MP expressed appreciation to the traditional council for its continued support and guidance, particularly acknowledging the role of Obirifo Ohunanko Ankobea II and other chiefs in promoting development and fostering collaboration between government and traditional authorities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for discussions on community needs and development priorities, with participants reaffirming their commitment to working together to advance the progress and prosperity of Gomoa West
