Ho Central MP condemns vandalism at NDC office, calls for Police investigation
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central in the Volta Region, Mr Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has distanced himself from the recent vandalism and violence act on the part of some party youth at the Ho Central Constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over President John Dramani Mahama’s list of ministerial appointments.
In a statement, Mr Kpotosu strongly condemned the acts of destruction, emphasizing that such behaviour does not reflect the values of the people of Ho Central or the NDC as a whole.
"I stand firmly against any form of violence, vandalism, and unpatriotic behaviour.
These actions do not represent the people of Ho Central nor do they align with our shared values of respect, dialogue, and peace," he stated.
The MP acknowledged that some constituents may feel discontent over the appointment process, but he urged them to express their concerns peacefully and constructively, rather than resorting to aggression and destruction.
"Disagreement is a vital part of our democracy, but it must be channelled through dialogue and constructive engagement, not through acts of aggression or vandalism," he added.
Mr Kpotosu reaffirmed his support for President Mahama’s appointments and urged his constituents to remain calm, as the process of selecting government officials is still ongoing.
To ensure justice, the MP has called on the Ghana Police Service to launch a full investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
He further assured the people of Ho Central of his commitment to serving their best interests, working collaboratively with local leaders, community organizations, and constituents to maintain peace and unity in the constituency.
"Let us focus on building bridges, not walls. Together, we can work towards a brighter future for Ho Central," he concluded.
