Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru has emphasized how crucial it is to respect Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's digitization goal in light of the disruptions to internet connection that have occurred in Ghana and other African nations.

In a post published on his Facebook timeline, he said, "If you want to know or understand why Digitalization is the future of our economy kindly juxtapose it with the current internet blackouts.

Millions of cedis and dollars are being lost by many businesses and institutions as a result of their inability to respond and process requests and supply the same.

The traditional analogue economy seized operating some years back."

" Digitalization is the most effective means of either eliminating or minimising corruption and its related activities. Research has proven that human involvement in the fight against corruption has proven ineffective and less efficient.

As a result of Digitalisation most of the developed countries have been able to minimise corruption-related activities by almost 90% as a result of the elimination of human involvement in processes.

As a developing nation, we can also take advantage of it.

Imagine how many corruption-related activities we will be able to eliminate if people don’t have to deal with any human involvement in the provision of all government services such as passport services, Birth certificates services, DVLA services, government procurement services etc.

If all these services are provided online end to end in the Majority of the cases we will be able to eliminate all corruption-related activities involved in the delivery of the above services."

Due to the damage to four key underwater cables that deliver internet services to the mobile network operators in these countries, internet connectivity has been disrupted in Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria, South Africa, and several other African countries.

Engineers are being sent to the scene of the devastation to address the issues, therefore it is anticipated that it will take four or five weeks to resolve these problems.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is well-known for his vigorous advocacy of the nation's digitalization program, which he has successfully used to formalize numerous economic sectors.

He vows to advance Ghana's growth by utilizing digitization to create jobs, increase company flexibility, facilitate the process of obtaining a passport or driver's license, and facilitate Ghanaians' access to healthcare.
