Mahama affirms Ato Forson as Majority leader
John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly affirmed Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, as the Majority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament despite an ongoing legal dispute.
Addressing a large crowd in Besease, within the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency in the Central Region, Mr Mahama reiterated that the NDC firmly holds the Majority in Parliament, a stance based on Speaker Alban Bagbin's recent ruling, which declared four parliamentary seats vacant.
This ruling has sparked resistance from Ghana’s Supreme Court, creating a heated debate over which party holds the Majority in the House.
Mr Mahama on his part emphasized that, regardless of the ongoing legal wrangling, the NDC considers Ato Forson the rightful Majority leader, stating, “The NDC stands as the Majority, and Ato Forson, as the representative of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, is our leader in Parliament.”
During his address, Mahama praised Ato Forson’s dedication to the constituency and his efforts to bring progress to the community.
He urged constituents to re-elect Ato Forson, underscoring that their support is essential to enabling Forson to continue his work both for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and for Ghana at large.
