Otumfuo advises Bawumia to clarify plans for Ghana

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has advised New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia to clearly communicate his plans for the country if he aspires to be the next president.
During Dr Bawumia’s visit to the Manhyia Palace as part of his Ashanti tour, the monarch emphasised the importance of transparency and respect for the electorate.
“What matters is for you to let Ghanaians know that if they follow you, if you are elected president, you can bring about changes for Ghana to grow,” Otumfuo said. He advised Dr Bawumia to “accord Ghanaians due respect and carefully outline his policies so that they understand what he aims to bring on board”.
The Asantehene continued, “If you continue making known and explaining the policies you intend to implement if elected, and if they are genuine and God permits, and Ghanaians listen and give you the nod, I am sure you will accomplish them for Ghana's growth. Other parties also seek to govern, so let us understand your policies well.”
“Let Ghanaians know that there are shortcomings, but when I am elected, I will address them. When you do things like that, they will believe you. But if you are only eager to rule, it will not work,” Otumfuo cautioned.
