Thank you for the opportunity to serve two consecutive terms – Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed gratitude to the people of Ghana for the trust they placed in him to lead the nation for two consecutive terms.
Reflecting on his presidency, Akufo-Addo acknowledged both the challenges and the accomplishments that have marked his leadership.
In a message to the nation, the president highlighted the progress Ghana has made during his time in office, stressing the significance of unity and collective effort in driving the country forward.
"As I near the end of my time in office, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to you, the people of Ghana, for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president for two successive consecutive terms," he said.
Looking back at his political journey, Akufo-Addo recalled the perseverance required after narrowly losing the 2008 and 2012 elections.
His eventual victory in 2016, focused on promises of economic reform, anti-corruption efforts, and national development, fulfilled his long-held ambition to lead Ghana. His re-election in 2020, he added, served as a strong endorsement of his leadership.
Despite encountering both successes and challenges during his presidency, President Akufo-Addo took pride in the tangible improvements made in critical sectors such as agriculture, governance, and overall national development.
"This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished together in agriculture, in governance, and in the lives we have touched," he added.
