President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the Transition Team to prioritize modesty in their operations and avoid significant budgetary expenditures during the transition period.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Transition Team at the Accra International Conference Centre, Mahama emphasized the need to operate within a fiscally responsible framework, given the nation’s current economic challenges.

“We urge the Transition Team to work swiftly and with a modest budget, considering the prevailing economic circumstances,” he stated.

He further noted, “While President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo may present an optimistic view of recent economic indicators, I am confident the Transition Team will confirm the actual state of affairs.”

The formal handover process commenced earlier on Wednesday, December 11, with a meeting at the Jubilee House in Accra.

This marks the beginning of a structured and peaceful transfer of power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

The National Transition Team, established under the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), is tasked with facilitating the seamless transfer of authority.

Its responsibilities include briefing the incoming administration on key state matters, granting access to critical government data, and coordinating the inauguration of the President-elect.

Outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced his government’s representatives on the Transition Team, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and orderly handover.
